Our interest groups are organised and led by our own members and may be monthly, fortnightly, weekly or at random, 'pop-up' intervals, depending on the subject and the wishes of the group leader. They are held at accessible venues, mostly in Bolton town centre, or alternatively at the group leader's home and normally run from September to June, excepting the Christmas period.

There is no limit to the number of groups you may join if the timetable allows – the only factors are your own time and availability of places.

We are always on the look-out for new and interesting topics and from time to time we need replacement group leaders to take over an existing group.

Members are encouraged to propose topics for new groups at any time. You do not always have to be an expert, as many of our groups proceed on the basis of members mutually helping each other's learning. Equally, groups do not have to be run by one individual – some are run by pairs of friends or could even be run by a small sub-committee.

Group leaders are actively supported by our Group Leaders' Co-ordinator and a great deal of help and guidance is available for anyone interested in running or taking over a group. This includes, if an unfortunate incident should occur, how to deal with complaints and grievances. Initial information can be found on the Group Leaders advice page
